Minerds Bell October News

Hi, welcome to our October update.

With some interstate borders opening up to travel, it looks as though 2020 may end on a brighter note for those of us with loved ones’ interstate who we haven’t seen for a long while with some travel now possible. The situation in Victoria also seems to be improving which is great news and hopefully my sister, brother in-law and their family can return home to SA for Christmas. Fingers crossed.

Despite this, unfortunately, restrictions and the risks involved haven’t allowed us to hold our annual Minerds Bell movie night this year. We hope to be back bigger and better next year.

Last month I mentioned some super law changes, that being if your over age 65 but under 67 you no longer need to meet the work test which gives rise to some opportunities to put some extra capital into super, however we still waiting for the laws to change to allow up to $300,000 to be paid in one year (i.e. the bring forward rules).  Will keep you posted on any changes to come.

Lastly, this month there are some articles which you might find interesting. These is an article from AAP “Signs of gradual economic improvement; how to “COVID proof” any travel plans you might have, and a reminder on “Why you need a will”.

Take care. That’s all for now,
